Bunka no Hi (Japanese Culture Day) is a holiday in Japan celebrating Japanese culture. At the JCCCW, Bunka no Hi is a free-to-attend cultural festival dedicated to celebrating, commemorating, and educating the public about Japanese and Japanese American culture in the Seattle area.
The theme of this year’s Bunka no Hi festival will be “Finding New Beauty – Artful Mending”. Discover Japan’s unique approach of embracing imperfections and repairing various items in a visually appealing way through demonstrations of kintsugi by Jen Lo, sashiko by Shannon and Jason, and kogin-zashi by Satomi Toraya. Please look forward to presentations of other cultural arts as well, including sumo wrestling, the art of swords, tea ceremonies, and much more! Food vendors Tokara Confectionery and Kozmo Kitchen will have food available for purchase, while supplies last. The Hosekibako Japanese Resale Shop located on-site will also be open during the event.

Join us for the Chinatown-International District Business Improvement Area (CIDBIA)'s monthly C-ID Community Clean-Up. Volunteers meet in Hing Hay Park on the second Saturday of every month from 10AM-12PM.
We’ll work on litter pick-up in areas with the highest amount of waste based on the CIDBIA sanitation team’s recommendations across Chinatown, Japantown, and Little Saigon. The supplies and list of areas with a map will be provided upon arrival.
Please meetup in Hing Hay Park (423 Maynard Ave S, Seattle, WA 98104) before 9:55am.

The Seattle Kobe Sister City Association (SKSCA) is proud to partner with the Panama Hotel and 4Culture to host six *FREE Sunday Jazz shows from July through December 2025. Join us for a relaxing Sunday afternoon listening to some of the best female jazz vocalists in the PNW at the iconic Panama Hotel in the C-ID!
Shows are on the 4th Sunday of each month from 1-3pm.
We are excited to welcome some of the most iconic female jazz vocalists from the Pacific Northwest, including past winners of the historic SKSCA Female Jazz Vocalist Audition. These accomplished artists have traveled the world performing, and are well known throughout the local jazz scene.
